Classical India was split into two empires, the Mauryan empire and the Gupta empire. For the rule of Chandragupta, the Mauryan empire became the very first state to bring a centralized and unified form of government to most of India. The societies were mainly based on Jainsm, Buddhism, and Hinduism. The values from these religions influenced the culture of India, and formed social practices such as the caste system and child marriage. This website tells all about what makes Classical India the significant empire that it turned out to be.
